The Tax Aid Program is sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons, in association with MAC in response to the need for free assistance to the elderly in filling out their income tax returns. Skilled volunteers help older persons who cannot complete their returns or wish to learn how to fill them out. This assistance also helps ensure that elderly taxpayers are aware of tax provisions under which Congress meant them to receive special benefits, such as those governing pensions, the sale of home, and tax credit for the elderly and disabled. Assistance is offered during tax season (January thru April) each year at various sites.
