Falls Prevention Awareness Day Planned

One in four Americans age 65 or older falls every year. But falls don’t have to be part of aging! A Falls Prevention Awareness Day will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at MAC.
Featured will be

  • Local vendors
  • Refreshments
  • Information on fall prevention strategies and community resources
  • Fall risk screening for older adults, conducted by UMES physical therapy students
  • Medication review for older adults, conducted by UMES pharmacy students. For this screening, participants should bring a list of all medications, which will be reviewed for meds that could be related to falling

Admission is free and all ages are welcome. For more information on this event, call MAC at 410-742-0505, ext. 169.

The event is being sponsored by MAC, along with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore physical therapy and pharmacy departments.
