The 2020 Census is coming!
Learn more about the U.S. Census, why it is vitally important to communities across the nation, and how you can help make the census a success, by attending “2020 Census Community Complete Count Committee Briefing.” The session will be held at MAC on Wednesday, April 24, beginning at 2 p.m.
This session will include general information about the census, 2020 Census goals, timeline, and how to form or serve on a Complete County Committee. CCCs are volunteer committees established to increase awareness and motivate residents to respond to the census.
The census is a valuable tool for improving communities across the country.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, census data provides the basis for distributing more than $675 billion in federal funds to communities to support vital programs, impacting housing, education, transportation, employment, health care and public policy.
The data also determines how many representatives each state has in Congress and is used to redraw congressional district boundaries.
Businesses, researchers and policymakers depend on census data to make important decisions, such as where to build schools, roads and hospitals; where to open new stores and expand existing ones, and what public programs would be most helpful in your community.
