Thrive, a free senior expo event, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at MAC in Salisbury. The event is being sponsored by MAC, and the Salisbury Independent, Holloway Funeral Home and Chesapeake Health Care.
Visitors can stop by vendor stalls, browse educational exhibits, and attend presentations, all offering information and more that’s relevant to senior living.

Stop by the gym on Saturday during the Thrive senior expo, for 15-minute demonstrations of the following classes:
- Simple stretch & tone: 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
- Tai Chi: 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.
- Demonstration of the Alter G Anti-Gravity Treadmill: 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.

Learn more about the exciting new Wicomico Community for Life program at talks to be held from 10-10:30 a.m. and from 2 to 2:30 p.m. in the Education Wing classrooms at MAC.Community for Life offers innovative options for safe and healthy aging for seniors who live in Wicomico County and wish to remain living independently in their homes. The membership program includes personalized services, including transportation assistance, and home maintenance and safety assessments, and referrals to community services as needed.
Come see the latest independent living aids for caregivers! Stop by the Caregiver Resource Interactive Lab for demonstrations, followed by Q&A sessions, at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Do you know the signs of Alzheimer’s disease? Visit the Life Bridges space to learn more; tours of Life Bridges will follow. The talks/tours start at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.
The Life Bridges Program assists people with dementia, especially those living alone, to help them remain independent at home by providing community-based interventions, respite day care and programs designed to reduce family caregiver stress. Caregivers working with aging, developmental or intellectually disabled persons will also have access to supports and the emerging technologies in Alzheimer’s Care.
Discussion/presentation on caregiving: “Caring for a Loved One: How to Keep Your Ship from Sinking,” will be presented from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The presentation will examine financial, legal and other issues of caregiving.
In addition, a special presentation of MAC’s “Aging Into Medicare” will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. If you are getting ready to turn 65 in the next 6 months or will be going on Medicare soon, tis class is for you. Discussion will include how Medicare works, what it covers and when to apply. Advance registration required; call 410-742-0505.
