Each May, Older Americans Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the strength, wisdom, and contributions of older adults in our communities. In 2026, the Administration for Community Living’s theme, “Champion Your Health,” shines a spotlight on prevention, wellness, and taking an active role in supporting healthy aging.
At MAC, this theme is a meaningful reminder that healthy aging is about more than medical care. It is about making choices each day that support overall well-being, independence, and quality of life. It is also about having access to the resources, education, and community connections that help older adults stay active, informed, and engaged.
Older adults strengthen our Lower Shore communities in countless ways. They bring experience, resilience, compassion, and perspective to families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and community life. Older Americans Month is a time to recognize those contributions while also encouraging habits and supports that promote lifelong health.
The 2026 theme, “Champion Your Health,” encourages individuals, families, caregivers, and communities to take action. That can mean staying physically active, prioritizing mental and emotional well-being, accessing preventive care, building social connections, managing chronic conditions, and speaking up for the support and services that make healthy aging possible.
At MAC, we see every day how important those supports can be. Through programs and services that promote wellness, independence, nutrition, caregiver support, and community connection, we are proud to help older adults live with dignity and purpose. Older Americans Month is not only a celebration, but also a call to continue building communities where every person has the opportunity to age well.
This May, we are proud to celebrate older adults across the Lower Shore and to recognize the many ways they continue to inspire, lead, and enrich our community. Together, we can all take steps to champion health and support stronger, healthier communities for everyone.
