Celebrating Creativity: Michelle Ben Shares an Original Poem at the Connections Talent Show

One of the most memorable moments from this year’s MAC Connections Talent Show came from participant Michelle Ben, who shared an original poem inspired by her experiences at the MAC Center.

Through thoughtful verses, Michelle beautifully captured the friendships, laughter, creativity, and sense of belonging that so many participants experience each day. Her poem reflects not only the activities that fill our center, but also the joy and connection that make the MAC community feel like home.

We are grateful to Michelle for sharing her talent and allowing us to celebrate her creativity with our community.

The MAC Center Poem
By Michelle Ben, a Connections participant

It’s early, and bright, and time to rise, get ready, get set, time really flies

Buses, cars, friends and family, will bring us all here, very happily

To the MAC Center, where all is right, in the gleaming building of white

To enjoy another magic day, of food, and fun, and games to play

With parties, cream, and coffee cups, we also get fancy donuts

We begin with a great, morning song, and we feel glad as we sing along

With flowers, and paints, and strings of beads, they satisfy our creative needs

With the chronicle, and puzzles to solve, we learn new things, every single day

With many letters we “Build a Man,” but with the monster it’s “Eat a Man.”

We all work out with a Motown sound, join us, and together, we’ll all get down

With music, and dancing, and being on the news, when we are here, we cannot lose

Laughing, and joking, with our friends, we’ll keep it up, to the very end

We all get presents for the holidays, here we’re remembered, for always

The garden window, flowers, and lunch, we thank the MAC Center, oh so much

Green, yellow, red vegetables, we love the fresh fragrant edibles

Come new friends, and passing friends, we all wish it would never end

But now it’s time to say goodbye, we finish our slice of apple pie

We had a great time, it was so sublime

Here comes the night, our day will end, but come tomorrow, we’ll begin again.

Thank you, Michelle, for sharing your gift of writing with us and for reminding us what makes the MAC Center such a special place. Your words will continue to inspire our participants, staff, volunteers, and community for years to come.
