Living Well Program
MAC is a Maryland Living Well Center of Excellence.
The Living Well program is an evidence-based approach to educating people with chronic conditions and teaching them how to maximize their health and manage their conditions in a way that improves their quality of life, reduces health complications, and reduces their need for emergency care.
The program was researched and developed at Stanford University, and the Living Well program first came to Maryland in 2006.
Designated as a Living Well Center of Excellence, MAC conducts regular evidence-based, health-related programs, conducted by certified facilitators.
The concept for the Center of Excellence is to maintain a hub for evidence-based health training statewide as established by the Maryland Department of Aging, which will include licensing functions, fidelity monitoring, data collection, training, support & mentoring for master trainers.
The mission of the Center of Excellence is to improve a person’s life and health, and includes such workshops as:

- Stepping On falls prevention program
- Enhance Fitness
- Diabetes Self-Management
- Diabetes Prevention Program
- Tai Ji Quan for Better Balance
- Cancer Survivorship programs
- PEARLS, a program focusing on depression
- Living Well With Hypertension
- Walk with Ease
