Veteren Directed Home and Community Based Services

Veteran Services

Helping veterans remain living at home and connected to family and friends is the goal of the Veteran Directed Home and Community Based Services program.

The program is available to veterans of all ages who are enrolled in the VA Maryland Health Care System and need skilled service assistance with activities of daily living. It offers a self-directed flexible spending plan for the veteran’s care to provide in-home services.

Participants develop a flexible budget for services that can be managed by the veteran or a representative, giving the veterans and their caregivers more access, choice, and control over the care they need.

Eligibility:

  • All veterans who are enrolled in the VA Maryland Health Care System are eligible if they meet the clinical need for the service and it is available in their jurisdiction.
  • The program is specifically targeted to veterans who meet the clinical criteria and have the desire to have more choice and control over their services and supports.

Referrals

Interested veterans and their families must contact their VA social worker or primary care provider at the local VA clinic for more information.
